Pre-Collar Casing
Matrix Pre-Collar Casing is primarily used in diamond coring applications where heavy overburden requires a rotary drill to pre-collar the borehole to bedrock before coring begins. A rotary drill is significantly more efficient than a diamond core drill in overburden geology, making pre-collaring the preferred method on large coring projects.
Once the rotary drill reaches bedrock, drilling stops and the borehole is cased with pre-collar casing. A diamond coring rig is then deployed inside the pre-collar casing to core the borehole to its final termination depth. Matrix Pre-Collar Casing features a “WT” taper thread profile and is available in multiple steel grades to match project requirements, whether shallow or deep hole applications.
Matrix offers a choice of steel grades to match the project application (shallow or deep.) Available sizes: NWT – HWT – PWT. Lengths: 10’, 20’, and 30 ft. or as required.
